ROBOT9000: IRC-Bot-Experiment von xkcd

Eigentlich kennt man xkcd als grandios-nerdigen Webcomic-Zeichner, der seine Leser alle paar Tage auf den neuesten Stand in Sachen Romance, Sarcasm, Math and Language bringt. In seinem Blog Blag berichtet er heute allerdings von seiner neuesten Errungenschaft, dem IRC-Chat-Bot ROBOT9000, welcher ein gängiges Problem von Chatrooms angeht: Alle reden, aber keiner sagt wirklich was.

And then I had an idea — what if you were only allowed to say sentences that had never been said before, ever? A bot with access to the full channel logs could kick you out when you repeated something that had already been said. There would be no “all your base are belong to us”, no “lol”, no “asl”, no “there are no girls on the internet”. No “I know rite”, no “hi everyone”, no “morning sucks.” Just thoughtful, full sentences.

Seine experimentelle Lösung zur effektiven Geräuschminderung in IRC-Chats besteht also darin, auf Basis der Chatlogs doppelte Inhalte herauszufiltern und den Chatter als Bestrafung für die Wiederholung von bereits Gesagtem ein paar Sekunden ruhig zu stellen bzw. permanent zu bannen, wenn er nur Sätze von sich gibt, die nichts Neues beinhalten.

  1. Interessante Idee. Vielleicht bietet das ja jemand mal als WordPress-Plugin für Kommentare an. Man stelle sich vor: Nie mehr Das machte meinen Tag oder Full Ack.
